Words of the day
  • しっくり(.) = exactly; fit perfectly
  • 暖(だん)を取(と)る = to warm oneself up (e.g. at a fire)
  • 齧(かぶ)り付(つ)く = to take a bite into food. Bite Kanji is usually 齧(かじ)る and 齧(か)む, though. (Also 噛(かじ)る and 噛(か)む.)
  • 気(き)を揉(も)む = to get worried
  • 仕切(しき)り直(なお)し = making a fresh start; back to square one
  • まかない料理(りょうり) = restaurant food for employees
  • 剥離(はくり) = peeling off
  • くすみ = dirt. From くすむ. Perhaps not 霞(かす)む.
  • お猪口(ちょこ) = a sake cup. The first Kanji is 猪(いのしし) (= wild boar). I’ve found 猪口才(ちょこざい) (= presumptuous) in my Anki.
  • いろり = fireplace. Kanji form is 囲炉裏(いろり).
  • 辛党(からとう) = drinker, preferred of alcohol to sweets. Sweet preferer is 甘党(あまとう).
  • 第一声(だいいっせい) = first word said
  • 中継点(ちゅうけいてん) = joining point; relay point. Another meaning of 中継(ちゅうけい) would be about relay broadcasting (中継放送(ちゅうけいほうそう)) :clapper: :film_projector:
  • 実写映画(じっしゃえいが) = live-action movie
  • モキュメンタリー(.) = mockumentary; fake documentary
  • 賛否評論(さんぴひょうろん) = mixed reviews
  • 多種多様(たしゅたよう) = a great variety
  • 造詣(ぞうけい) = profound knowledge
  • 機動隊(きどうたい) = riot police. 機動(きどう) is just quick maneuver, though.
