Actually, I tried Age of Empires II (2013) too, look at story mode (around 30 campaigns), but pace (real-time strategy), along with game mechanics, make it too much for me to handle.

About うたわれるもの, it is indeed the first of the trilogy, but they are something I can take time with.

Interesting vocabularies
  • 束子(タワシ) = a scrubbing brush. Might be a sound change from 束(たば), but the meaning is too far apart.
  • 応(こた)える = to respond (to expectations), e.g. 対応(たいおう)
  • 幕舎(ばくしゃ) = a barracks, a camp. 幕 uses Kanji reading from 幕府(ばくふ).
  • 嘶(いなな)く = to neigh (of a horse). Has Kanji and Furigana in context. I think I saw first in 狼と香辛料, but in Kana-only.
  • 傍迷惑(はためいわく) = nuisance
  • 得物(えもの) = weapon. A similar sounding one is 獲物(えもの) = prey.
  • 砥石(といし) = grinding stone. The verb of the Kanji is also 砥(と)ぐ (alternate Kanji for 研(と)ぐ).
  • 刀身(とうしん) = sword blade.
  • 扇(おうぎ) = a fan. The verb is 扇(あお)ぐ – slightly different Kana. Though, I think of a related word first, 扇子(せんす).
  • 代物(しろもの) = a goods. White? Amateurish thing? The object in context isn’t cheap, though.
  • 感嘆(かんたん) = admiration
  • 甲高(かんだか)い = high pitched (voice). The Kanji is usually read 甲(こう), though (so I looked up for interesting stuff). After that is Rendaku’d.
  • エグイ = harsh. Probably a nice Kanji form is 刳(えぐ)い.
  • 溝(みぞ) = trench
  • 親骨(おやぼね) = outer rib of a folding fan. An opposite is 子骨(こぼね).
  • 湿(しめ)る = to become damp / to become wet
  • 分解(ぶんかい) = disassembly
  • 夕餉(ゆうげ) = evening meal
  • クーデター = a coup d’état (pl. coups d’état, coup d’états); a coup
  • 臓器(ぞうき) = organ, viscera
  • 適合(てきごう) = compatibility. Also, 適合性(てきごうせい).
  • 判明(はんめい) = confirming
  • 概要(がいよう) = summary, overview
  • 過失(かしつ) = blunder
  • 特有(とくゆう) = characteristic
  • 自首(じしゅ) = surrender (to the authorities)
  • 証言(しょうげん) = verbal evidence
  • 血腫(けっしゅ) = hematoma
  • 除去(じょきょ) = removal
  • 停死(ていし) Since there is already Furigana, I can’t tell if the Kanji are wrong. I think it is 心肺停止(しんぱいていし), but with 死(し).
  • 血(ち)まめ = ecchymosis. Full Kanji form is 血豆(ちまめ).
  • 打(う)ち身(み) = bruise
  • げせない = incomprehensible. Kanji form is 解(げ)せない.
  • 買収(ばいしゅう) can mean bribery.
  • おどし = threat. Kanji form is 脅(おど)し, from 脅(おど)す.
  • 絶縁体(ぜつえんたい) = insulator. 絶縁(ぜつえん) itself means cutting off ties.
  • 異様(いよう) = odd, strange
  • 開創機(かいそうき) = a retractor (in a surgical operation). The second Kanji can mean wound (other than creation), like in 満身創痍(まんしんそうい),    創傷(そうしょう),    銃創(じゅうそう).
  • 疾患(しっかん) = illness. 疾 can also mean illness, like 疾病(しっぺい)
  • 無影灯(むえいとう) = shadowless lamp, surgical lamp. In context, 灯 in a different form (燈), so 無影燈(ライト).
  • 術創(じゅつそう) = surgical wound. In dictionary as 手術創(しゅじゅつそう).
  • ライヘ = Leiche. In context as 死体(ライヘ).
  • 表沙汰(おもてざた) = exposure to public view. Last two Kanji are from ご無沙汰(ぶさた), where 沙汰(さた) meaning written news.
  • 前途(ぜんと) = future prospects, as in 前途(ぜんと)ある
  • 往診(おうしん) = doctor’s visit for 診察(しんさつ)
  • 経過(けいか) = course of an event
  • 点検(てんけん) = inspection
  • 吸盤(きゅうばん) = a sucking disk. Well, sucking plate (盤) of a monitoring machine.
  • はなから = from the start. Kanji form is 端(はな)から.
  • 根治(こんじ) = complete cure
  • 苦悶(くもん) = agony
  • 大(おお)づめ = the last scene / finale. Full Kanji form is 大詰(おおづ)め.
  • ハッスル = show hustle; put some hustle into (one’s work)

SFX

  • がっつく = to devour greedily. From がつがつ.
  • ぶらつく = to wander. From ぶらぶら.
  • ずしり = heavily. Also, ずっしり(重い).

Phrases

  • 気(き)が引(ひ)ける = to feel awkward
  • 息(いき)の合(あ)った = in good coordination
  • 寸分違(すんぶんたが)わぬ = identical / not different at all. Also, 寸分違わず. From 寸分(すんぶん) but + 違(たが)う, also seen in 仲違(なかたが)い.
  • 一心不乱(いっしんふらん) = wholeheartedly
  • 耳(みみ)を貸(か)す = to listen / to try to listen
  • 頭(あたま)が上(あ)がらない = to be no match for. Like 敵(かな)わない, perhaps.
  • 曰(いわ)く付(つ)き = with an interesting history. I have seen 曰(いわ)く before, so no problem for me, but weirdly similar to 日.
  • 申(もう)し分(ぶん)ない = no objection. Base vocabulary is 申(もう)し分(ぶん), and there might be の.
  • 息(いき)を吹(ふ)き返(かえ)す = to come back to life

Forgotten ones

  • 運搬(うんぱん) = transportation
  • 催促(さいそく) = demanding
  • 荒事(あらごと) = (theatrical) fighting scene
  • 窪(くぼ)み = a depression / a socket. Verb form is 窪(くぼ)む. 窪(くぼ) is a vocabulary on its own as well. I would need to keep up with the Kanji, but an alternate Kanji is 凹(くぼ)む / 凹(へこ)む.
  • 物騒(ぶっそう) = disturbed
  • 容態(ようだい) = state of health. I keep forgetting this one. Also with Rendaku.
  • 引(ひ)き取(と)る = to take responsibility of
