Re Zero Volume 1 week 3

It’s interesting that there are a few differences between the two (a few extra sentences in particular). Also, the name of the main character was in kanji in the prologue.

I’ve been having a great time reading this, and learning the most out of everything I’ve read so far, but unfortunately I don’t think I’ll be able to keep up. I just don’t have the time with my job and 2 other books. I’ve only finished week 2 yesterday, and now I have double the pages to read till the end of this week XD (whereas with other books I usually finish the whole part in one sitting at the first day) I dunno what to do, but I’ll do my best and just keep reading for now

Well, reading starts on Monday, so you do have the weekend still
I did read this week’s stuff in one sitting, but yeah, it took about 3 hours? A bit more maybe? Longer than I expected in any case. At some point it did look up how many pages I had left and thought ā€œwow, that’s actually a lotā€.

It’s also taking me much longer with ReZero. And, actually as the pattern goes for me, I only have 3/4 of Saturday because I work Sunday too :joy:
Between the 2 other books which I can’t drop, and other misc stuff, I barely have time on Saturday. That’s why it’s tough but I’ll have to manage in some way :man_dancing: (<- This is Subaru’s pose btw)

By the way, I wanted to ask, but having finished the first chapter, is it possible to watch the first episode of the anime spoiler-free? Or do they just put stuff in a weird order meaning I will have to wait until much later?

I think you can, indeed. But be careful not to watch more. It’s easy to get carried away with shows like this…

Ohh yeah it’s a good idea to watch the first episode. It’s a special 1 hour, (you might find people referring to episodes 1-A and 1-B, both make up episode 1). I encourage it, at least, just to get the image of how Subaru acts. But be careful, chapter 1 ends at the start of episode 1B (minute 4:20).

The order honors the novel and follows it closely. There are minor changes later on, but they’re just stuff that was cut.

Well, the actual costs of renting the thing is usually enough to stop me from bingeing :stuck_out_tongue:

Mm ok. I’ll wait until we are further ahead then. When are we going to cover the B part?

Episode 1B ends on page 154. So in 2 weeks?

*confused jneapan noises

I watched it on Crunchyroll so idk about renting. How are you renting just one episode?

By going to the rental shop and, well, renting 1 dvd. The first dvd only has the first episode.

(Sorry couldn’t help it )

:woman_shrugging:

Well, I am older than the average forum user, so I guess I just have different habits.
It feels much more satisfying to watch something if you have to go get a dvd rather than just click on a button too, but that’s probably just me.

I don’t even have a DVD player (unless you count the PS3) and rental shops have gone out of business long ago in my city :man_shrugging: so…

Just be a little bit patient. Everything will be clear soon enough :stuck_out_tongue:

Meanwhile, Tsutaya (the main rental company in my area) has made record profits last year. on the other hand, VoD isn’t super convenient (yet, I guess). I’m glad Japan is behind the technological curve

It’s available on Amazon prime or for rental for individual episodes. Idk how much your dvd shops charge for renting. I’ve legit not seen one in years.

Episode 1 is free on Amazon, so that definitely beats the rental place. Anything after that is about 2.5 times as expensive as going to the shop  In fact, the monthly fee of amazon prime is just the price of 2 episodes (or just a bit less than 6 episodes if I go to the shop), which makes me wonder who would just rent individual episodes. That’s about exactly what I have been spending monthly over the past year, but then I wouldn’t have any limit  That sounds dangerous nice.

Netflix basically put rental stores out of business in the U.S.
