Hi, I am definitely below this books level, however I might just get it and try to tag along… Here is a link to the CDJapan light novel version: CDJapan : Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- 1 (MF Bunko J) [Light Novel] Tappei Nagatsuki BOOK
Also, can anyone tell me an estimate of what jlpt would be best suited to read this?

@mrahhal, based on your level 60 thread, thought you might be interested.

I think N2 would be best, but it’s probably possible with a solid N3. (Based purely on reading the 10 pages preview, it may get harder or easier later on, I don’t know)

Ohh awesome, thanks, I am.

More than grammar, what’s extra hard about it is it has huge amounts of vocabs.

Well I will try to get my level up to N2 this summer then, because I just bought it along with 7 other books (first time buying japanese novels so exited!)

Welp, seems like it’s time to sacrifice what little left of my soul to the devil …

As you can see, I’m a huge fan of ReZero. I’ve read up to vol 13 in english, but also read some amount of chapters and various things in japanese with @Killua69100 at various places.
So if you have any question about the series ask away!

More like I’ve betrayed you and read ahead forcing you to read too when we both couldn’t afford the time to do so, but yeah exactly :')
(I swear I’m sorry about it)

Exactly. I’m both grateful and hateful, not equally

I think that there is no further need to extend the votes so I will close them in 24 hours unless someone have an objection. I have some questions for you guys:
I want to ask those that wanted to start reading after July if they will still try to start in July or no.
If someone have a pace to propose please do so I will poll them all up when we will have enough.
I want to propose myself to manage this book club if someone has an objection or want to propose themselves please let me know.
I will need people to lead the reading aloud session(s).(Which mostly include deciding on a time and just be there to guide people at first) The number will depend on everyone’s timezone.
Here is some fun poll to pass time:
Do you have Re-Zero in EBook or physical book?
Would you like to participate in the reading aloud sessions?
Just reminding you that we will read the Light novel and not the manga please be cautious when buying.
Thanks you all again for your participation in this great project !

Just to put my comment since I got the feeling the pace might become a bit too fast. I know this will be an “Advanced” reading thread, but we should still be a bit careful with the pacing. There’s also 2 other upcoming intermediate books to consider, since most people here will also be joining those.

That is why the pace will be voted. If you want a specific pace just propose it. We will go with the majority.

Hi, I don’t know anything about the series but I ordered the first two LN’s since this club seemed fun Can you tell me a bit about it?

It’s something that starts out very standard, a boy gets thrown into another world, but with a twist (won’t say so that you can experience it yourself). But with time it becomes very very special.
I particularly love the story telling and the expressiveness (heh) of the author’s style, but needless to say the characters are what sets this apart from any other thing for me. Be warned that it can get dark, but nothing without purpose! Hope you enjoy it (the anime is great too, and S2 announced)

Sounds great, looking forward to reading with you guys, thanks! Also would you say I should read the LN first or watch the anime first, or it wouldn’t really matter?

since the intermediate bc books will have priority for me, I’m not too sure about starting this in July. I’d still want to listen in on the reading out loud thread, so who knows. If it’s fun, I might get weak.

What volumes of the light novel were adapted by season 1 of the anime?

I watched the anime first when it was airing, it was nice to get the fuller details in the novel. I guess, if you have lots of trouble reading it you can try watching the anime then, to get some context, that might make it easier.

S1 (2 cours) is first 3 arcs, which goes up to the middle of volume 9.
