Sadly, I’m left-handed. The WK mnemonic was even made for left-handed people, yet I still confuse the two 😅

Nobody’s yet mentioned my favorite one, 草.
It’s just so clean with the beautiful flowers on top, sun in the middle, and cross on the bottom. Its meaning makes sense (grass), and its reading (くさ) is an easy to remember mnemonic! The **co** ol **sa** w.

My favourite is 光. I named my bunny with the Chinese reading and decided on this kanji before I even started learning Japanese😂 So 光 definitely is the most special one to me

To me 貝 is the cutest. It looks like a happy little clam or scallop, with the lil shell hinge at the bottom also looking like its happy lil feet. Depending on the font, they bend a little making it look like it’s dancing…I am embarrassingly attached to this lil guy

And if you’re not inclined to think scallops are cute it also reminds me of the baby scallop from spongebob or the baby oysters from Alice in Wonderland

It’s actually amazing to find someone who shares my favourite kanji character 雨. Honestly speaking, it’s not the only favourite Kanji of mine. Most of my first learnt Kanji characters are my favourite, such as 山, 川, 火…
The reason is simply, because they resemble their meanings.

I like 南. It’s the first character of the school I came to here in Japan. It will forever be special to me.

But also it was the easiest of the cardinal directions for me to remember when studying Japanese in university. I never missed it once, I really like how it felt so complicated, but I could write it pretty easily and have it look good, whereas I can write 曜 but the bottom of the kanji always looks so awful when I write it.

Special shout outs to 必 歳 国 and 私

Cheating with two, but probably the 凸凹 set, they’re so playful. でこぼこ is fun to say and they totally convey their meanings. Edit: Just noticed they were already taken but yeah, they’re cool, good picks

Also shoutout to the sort of “secondary” kanji for ひつぎ, 柩 (meaning casket). I know this isn’t the real kanji for box, but bear with me for it being box-shaped. It’s a box, made of wood, and you’re in there for a long time 久. Perfect.

冠 (diadem, crown etc) has gotta be one of the coolest looking. It’s also great to write, is in Pokemon (冠の雪原), and you see it on road signs (路面冠水 とか), with its meaning for the last one being what cemented it in my mind properly after I looked it up.

時 is definitely my favorite and always has been. It was one of the first kanji I learned and was probably the most complicated one I could write for a while. I also just really like the way 寺 feels to write - it’s very intuitive to me for some reason.

I’m not actually as big a fan of other kanji that have 寺 on the right side (待、持、特、侍), mostly because they’re much more similar to each other.

My favorite kanji right now is 明, maybe my mind will be changed as I progress further. It has both the sun and the moon within, and I see lots of 月 answers, it’s nice not to be alone. Both the meaning(bright) and the reading(mei) are adorable.
