Hi. I recently learned that the character 字 means letter. I figured it was a letter as in you send someone a letter, but now i am a bit confused because 太字 means “bold letter”. So does this mean its a bold/daring letter or is it a letter/character which is in a bold font? Or both maybe? Appreciate your answers

It means letter as in letter of the alphabet or a kana or kanji character, depending on context.
A letter you send to someone is 手紙.

And 漢字 is Kanji - meaning Chinese character so 字 can mean character or letter, depending on the Kanji word it’s used in.

Btw, do you use WaniKani on PC?
No on mobile
You’ll keep running into kanji and vocab words with ambiguous WK meanings like this. It’s very helpful to look at the “found in vocabulary” page for each new kanji you learn and the “context” page for any new vocab, to clarify the meaning. A dictionary can also be helpful.
