Pronunciation of と (eg in とまる) [newbie]

The T in Japanese isn’t as aspirated as in English.

@seanblue says they’re doing exactly this! I totally agree. Pitch in particular seems very different between men and women in Japanese.

Off topic, but it don’t want to start a new one for this little question. Is there a difference in pronunciation between よう and よお. On the reviews, I get things like that wrong all the time.

There isn’t really any difference. And a vast majority of the time with long vowels, the “extending” character will be う not お. Things like とおか (十日) and とおり (通り) and こおり (氷) are the exception (and the only such examples I can think of off the top of my head).

多い and 大きい come to mind.

Basically, おお spelling is kunyomi, and おう spelling is onyomi. (There might be exceptions.) They’re pronounced the same.
