When I saw Pepe make noise getting hit by the mask shards, while everyone else avoided them, I knew before turning the page what was going to happen
Reuwius (going with this autocorrect result for now) is really on another level. He blocked the old man’s gunshots while blinded. Nous couldn’t do that with all his senses! Well, Reuwius couldn’t either when he got his mask broken. Maybe his other senses got sharper when he lost his sight?
And then he casually pushes down a building The humans from before the promise must have been unbelievable badasses to avoid getting wiped out by this guy! Based on him talking about feeling death in the past as well, I guess those past humans must have been able to fight back at least somewhat effectively.
Well, usually if we get to hear the plan before it resolved, it won’t work. And if we don’t get to hear it until it resolved, then it does work. So, things are looking up!
The part where the monkey finds them was so well done! From it just appearing in the window, the beat where everyone realizes, and then it screams and things instantly go sideways.
I loved that moment too. Where time froze and they all just looked at each other for a second. Reminded me a bit of the moment in Pulp Fiction where the boss guy is crossing the road and sees Bruce Willis in the car.
The story telling is very good in this manga and it goes in unexpected directions at times. But I’m with you I think this is the plan that is going to work!
Good chapter. I like that we’ve switched to a “shoot the hell out of him until he can no longer regenerate” strategy. There was an awesome double page picture of a hundred shells heading towards him at once.
It’s hard to tell who has the edge. This feels like a bad guy who is just not going to go down.
Adam has arrived! I don’t think we have any idea of his capabilities but he’s is clearly super strong!
He’s here, and he’s still saying the number! I wonder if Emma and Ray have Norman’s serial number memorized, such that they’d recognize it if they heard him say it.
I actually read this yesterday. But I didn’t read ahead! Which was hard given that cliffhanger. Of course, I don’t believe there’s any way Emma will actually die here.
It’s interesting that Reuwius immediately figured out what was going on with Adam. He’s at the hunting grounds because he was given as a sample.
That sucks, but it’s good for the rest of the kids that he’s there. He punched the heck out of Reuwius, and even took a kick from him and survived! He did kind of throw a giant pillar at some of the kids by accident though, so there’s room for improvement
Yeah, manga characters seem surprisingly resilient to penetrating abdominal wounds. I’m sure some positive thinking and the support of a group of loving friends will be enough to see her through.
I know we believe his capacity for cellular regeneration is being gradually worn down, but Ray Lewis is looking pretty unstoppable at this point. He’s been a good bad guy!
Also, the monkey thing is doing an admirable job at staying stuck to his shoulder!
The monkey has disappeared a couple of times, but for the most part, it’s there in any scene where Ray Lewis (I love this, so I’m stealing it!) is. It’s become part of the fun to see how it’s doing as the fight goes on.
I read this last week (plus a bit of the next chapter!). For those confused like me, there is supposed to be a blank page. Had to check in my physical copy.
I thought it was supposed to be the flash bang going off. But then Ray Lewis kept inner monologuing afterward so I wasn’t sure if it had gone off or not. Even in the end, I’m not sure if it went off or if he just let the bullets hit him because he knew he was done.
Also, what is going on with Violet on page 106? Her hands are up, so it doesn’t seem like she dropped the gun. Did it fly out of her hands?
