Hi: The 1st time I installed TamperMonkey, Open Framework and Double-Click scripts on my Win10 PC a couple years ago, I had no problem and they are still working fine. Today I tried to install them on WIn11 laptop and although TamperMonkey was no problem, I got the following error message. Can anyone tell me how to resolve this so I can install this script? I also got a similar run time error trying to install Double-Click script. Error reads as follows. (BTW, I checked to make sure I’ve got administrative rights, which I do.) Thanks in advance for your help!!!
Script: C:\Users\djoli\Downloads\Wanikani Open Framework.user.js
Line: 22
Char: 2
Error: Syntax error
Code: 800A03EA
Source: Microsoft JScript compilation error
You don’t download the user scripts to your HDD/SSD; rather, you install them through Tampermonkey. When you visit the download link with Tampermonkey installed and enabled, it prompts for installation.
The “Open Framework” part of your title is misleading, this is not an issue related to a specific script. Though, if it was, I would have suggested you instead post as a reply to the existing topic (Installing Wanikani Open Framework).
Well, I suppose you can install from a file. But you do that here:
(Not recommended though, since it probably won’t update automatically)
Thanks for your reply and I apologize if I posted to the wrong group or missed an existing thread. I’m brand new to this community and that was my 1st post. So I understand I shouldn’t save the script to my HD and install it from there, but no matter whether I start with the WaniKani API and 3rd Party Apps user forum or GreaseFork or TamperMonkey as soon as I find the open framework script and click install (even within TamperMonkey), it’s going to prompt me to save the file to my HD. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I watched one video say says once you display the script code and click on the TamperMonkey icon in the Chrome taskbar, TamperMonkey will takeover the installation, but that doesn’t happen for me, even though TamperMonkey is enabled and open. What am I doing wrong?
To be clear, you’re clicking this big green button that says “Install this script”, right? (mine says “Reinstall” for obvious reasons).
If that is indeed what is happening. I would first try restarting your browser. Then if that doesn’t work, uninstall and reinstall tampermonkey, restart browser, and try again.
Yes, that’s what I’ve been doing. I will try your latest suggestions and get back to you. Thanks again for answering…
