I think the whole point of putting in quotes there is to suggest we don’t actually say “ball onion” in English.
But you can add it as a synonym if you want to
To be fair that one in particular was the one I got wrong the most times. In Spanish all onions are “round, circular, ball shaped” so adding BALL to an already BALL-sy thing was weird.
The good thing is that I really learned ねぎ after all that.
