Socially anxious bocchi and…
Wait
…the Bocchi with the hairclip.
Well, if anyone is interested in the Bocchi two-fer and missed the memo, the Ichidan Bocchi club started last weekend.
For those looking to dip their toes into intermediate level material, we’re starting an absurd short stories book club this weekend! We’re reading one story a week for the next 13 weeks. You’re welcome to join us from beginning to end or to dip in and out as your schedule allows
The next book club has started:
I’ve updated the club heading post to match. By our usual schedule, the next poll will be december 28th and run until january 4th, and the next club will start approximately feb 15th.
Wondering how people feel with the poll running over the xmas/new year period, should we delay it a week?
I wouldn’t delay it (unless you’re unavailable of course), but maybe let it run for a little longer than usual.
I’m aware the newest book club has just begun. Is there, like, a point where it’s reasonable to post a nomination for a new manga after a new book has started? Not sure if it’s too soon.
Nominations are open as long as there are less than 20 existing nominations. Currently there are 15, so feel free to nominate.

Personal Opinion
Omori is based off the game of the same name created by OMOCAT. The overall tone of the story can be rather dark, but nothing adapted in this volume covers anything too grim. If you haven’t played the game either, don’t worry, this is a fine starting point. The order of some events are changed around but it never seemed to ruin the flow. I realise that the volume may have a few more pages than the guidelines state, however this manga features quite a number of sequences without any, or minimal, dialogue so it should be manageable to read it in a reasonable time considering the longer chapters. On top of that, the difficulty of the language never felt too difficult, although there is a bit of casual speech, so it should be fine for BBC.

You can also browse the list on Natively. However, be aware that きみと雨上がりを (After the Rain With You) is not listed on Natively as natively does not yet support web novels.
Note that because I’m a little late with the poll, and it’s over the holiday period, I’ve extended the poll a few more days than usual, so this poll ends January 8th
Bocchi gets another shot?
Also, vote for the mountains! Get the tour of real places in Japan. Or the fish!
Thanks for pointing out, I removed it.
I will be pulling for lookback every poll until it comes out victorious
Btw, Omori looks great and I’ll absolutely vote for it… but only after I finally play the game. From what I read it would spoil a lot otherwise. Looking forward to reading it though at some point!
Do you want to take a shortcut through the hidden cat world ?
See kanjis escape the book and go on adventures ?
Craft a “flower spray” that can instantly turn your bland curtains into beautiful flower prints ?
Babysit an egg for a colleague whose head is a bird cage ?
Then vote now for Afternoon yawning !
This looks delightful!
Why is this categorized as a “children’s book”? From the previews on Amazon and the website it seems to be a manga, and sure enough the Bookwalker description calls it a ショートマンガ.
Considering that prose has had a pretty hard time winning the BBC I feel like this miscategorization might have been holding it back a bit.
Yeah, I think it’s natively that’s classifying it like that.
Maybe @araigoshi can update that ? Pretty please ? (*‘▽’)
I don’t think it’s possible during the vote. Probably best to remind them shortly before the next vote, since I assume they take the previous poll as a template. (E.g. my 尾守つみきと奇日常。 | L23 continues to be L?? too, although in that case there might not be a next vote anyway…)
Nice post. Now do Yama no Susume.
Yeah, editing the poll clears all previous votes and after a certain point isn’t possible anymore.
I took the categories from Natively if the original poster didn’t specify in their nomination
