声優 (せいゆう) - Voice Actor
You got 俳優 for actor, 女優 for actress, but we don’t have 声優, voice actor!
So why should it be added beyond the funnie animu tidbit?
Well, it uses a different reading of 声, which is せい, its onyomi reading. In order to be a good voice actor, you have to pull out your saber and say in the most solemn voice: “Fugu. I am your father.”
“NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!” goes Fugu.
I’d argue that studying this word on WK won’t be necessary, precisely because it’s so widespread. I knew it before starting WK for example. But 声帯 is a pretty useful word that uses the せい reading and you won’t learn just randomly on the internet.
