I’ve been working these past couple of months on ウーパールーパー, a WaniKani companion app to help everyone keep up with their lessons and reviews on any Android/iOS mobile device.
Of course this is nothing new — there are other apps like this — but as someone who prefers doing SRS on mobile, I really wanted a nice experience. The options I tried either had UIs that weren’t that nice or user friendly, or struggled a lot with syncing data consistently. I ended up being reluctant to study on my phone at all.
For this exact reason I decided to try building an app that actually makes me want to use my phone for lessons and reviews. I’m pleased with the result, but I would love for everyone to try it out!
Current status:
iOS: Already published in all countries except Europe (some compliance documents are currently under review — should be available once that’s passed). Link to the app.
Android: I need 12+ people to test the app for 14 days before Google Play lets me publish. If anyone’s interested, I’ll add you to the testers list and share the tester link — would really appreciate the help!

Love this! I’ve been looking for good-looking iOS companion app for some time and I’m very grateful that you’ve made this. Excited to take this for a spin on both my iPad and iPhone on the little bit. I also have a backup Android device too so if you still need testers I’ll happily join!

Thanks for sharing this! The UI design is truly an upgrade from the OG website and other apps. I have to test a little more too see if I’ll fully convert though. I just got all my reviews correct just now so still not sure if app has the ability to redo reviews if I make a mistake? That’s the main reason I went to tsurukame.

I really like the design of the app, very stylish but also minimal. One suggestion, what about an Anki mode? And I have a question, in the configuration it says something about “Self Study” but I can’t find the feature :S
The app looks great! The one thing I’m missing is some info on when my next review for an item will be, and an indication of when it will be “guru’d.” It would also be nice to see how much time is left on that specific level, given how many Kanji I have left to Guru.
