So I got New Pokemon Snap to share with my partner. We were passing it back and forth on her account in English with Japanese voices and it seemed simple enough… so I started my file in Japanese!
The game lets you select text and voice language at the beginning of a new game. You can change voice language afterwards, but text language cannot be changed, so it’s a commitment. If you choose Japanese you also get to pick between kanji or no kanji.
It’s going pretty well so far! I’ve passed the part we left off at in English and haven’t had a ton of difficulty understanding anything. There’s some popup text and speech during photoshoots that I’m not fast enough to catch all of, though.
Anyone else playing Newポケモンスナップ in Japanese? How do you like it?
edited to add: I put this in Reading because I thought I’d treat it like a book-club-lite! Talk about the game, post questions, etc.
I’m playing English text, Japanese language for the same reason as @Leebo. Sometimes I’m known to re-play a game in Japanese on my second profile, but for now I’m taking my time playing it in English for a first play through.
@ChristopherFritz How did I forget the screenshot button?? Thanks! I’m usually not super inclined to go back and look at the screenshots but it’s nice to have them if I end up really needing that info to progress.
Yeah, I think if I wasn’t also (kind of) playing it in English with the gf I wouldn’t have set mine to all Japanese. It’s nice having the option to switch. Though I haven’t gone back to English yet because she’s way more into Rune Factory 4 at the moment, heh.
Thanks for sharing the details about language options! It’s always tricky to know if switch games support Japanese. Now I can make the purchase with certainty. 助けてくれました!
