Hi all. Been learning Japanese for a few months. This is my daily study structure. Would love to hear if theres something I’m missing or could be doing better.
I’m aiming to do the N5 in July, so ive been studying N5 vocabulary decks via Anki. Ive pretty much got 800 words memorised. I usually study Anki when im iI’mline at the post office, waiting rooms, passenger in a car etc. So it doesnt take too much time
I also use Duolingo for about 5 minutes a day. Im not too keen on it but use it solely to track how many days ive been studying. It’s probably really useful in that sense as I dont want to break my streak.
Im on L5 Wanikani. I work on my laptop from home. I have a browser extension that pops up when new reviews come in. So I do them throughout the day day,ew minutes at a time, although this weeks its starting to really increase so i may start delaying lessons.
Whilst I work on my laptop, I try to have some N5 listening practice youtube videos on. I only listen to one a day. I started this last week and have already noticed a slight difference in comprehension
I also just started a beginner in-person Japanese class once a week. It’s helping my conversational skills.
My grammar and sentence structure is where I’m very weak as I only focused on vocab for months. Purposely. I tried starting Genki a few months ago but not knowing the vocab used in the book I found it harder to comprehend. So I downloaded a Genki anki vocab deck so I could ‘prep’ for the textbook course. Im hoping to start that next month.
All in all, I probably spend 30-45 minutes per day actively studying Japanese spread out throughout the day and then maybe another 30 minutes of inactive study, such as background listening. Thanks for reading
