Chapter 66

Lots of new developments!
We learned that Shin is now an actor in the “present”, and that Nobu is working at his parents’ Ryokan (could you imagine going to stay at a hotel where the owner’s son was a rock star!!), and Hachi is a kimono fitter (), but we don’t know what Yasu is up to. Lawyer maybe? Although didn’t he lose his license? I’m forgetting what happened…

Takumi came up but it’s still not clear if they’re still together. You’re killing me Yazawa sensei!

The narrative jumps forward and back - the first half of the chapter seems to be set in the future just after Hachi receives the info about Nana whereabouts, and the second half seems to be set around the time band members from Trapnest are returning from England. I think that Takami and Hachi are probably separated and living apart in the future (even if not necessarily divorced) - Hachi’s got a job and it looks like 2 children - Ren and Satsuki. We’ve met Satsuki in earlier chapters, but this is the first (I think) mention of Ren:

I was puzzled at first when Nobu asked Hachi about Ren (why would she know anything), but it looks like Satsuki lives with Hachi and Ren spends more time with Takumi.

I totally missed that!

(In my defense this was around the page where I paused to read for lunch and I do remember wondering why they were talking about Ren being in England but then I wanted to know what was happening with Nobu so I just kept going )

But it can’t be TOO much trouble because we know he’s an actor in the present so I’m mostly about it

I am curious what happened between talking to his brother and the morning though.

I really liked Hachi’s passive aggressive omurice ketchup message, although I wish she’d just get mad at him..

Me too! I wonder when these omurice ketchup messages became a thing. They’re showcased in an episode of Badly in Love I recently watched.

Chapter 67

I didn’t react for Chapter 66 but I agreed with all the comments! And same for the comments on this one
Was also funny to see Nana get in the romantic mood and subtly starting a bath, why Ren is completely oblivious and catching up on the all the JUMP magazines that Nana bought for him while he was in London:

Not sure from your question if you already know or not, that it’s just a scene from a previous volume. Though I guess it does point at Shin getting in trouble for being in paid relationships with ladies while he is underage maybe?

One thing that I’m not sure what to make of, in this chapter, is this scene:

Do we already know about what’s being referred to here between the 社長 and 美里? Or is it implied that there’s something we don’t know yet about going on?

No time to check right now, but there was that pic of him in the car with his arm around her - not exactly what you’d want your boss doing. Then there was a strange warning by someone (can’t now remember who it was) that she could not miss a meeting with him with hints that her job would be on the line otherwise. I think even in their first interview there was something not quite right about the interaction.
