Chapter 54

I feel like the big どんでん返し of this chapter, is not Hachi and Takumi getting married, but Nana admitting to Yasu (and to herself) her feelings for him!

どんでん返し

Yep, agree - the big どんでん返し in the chapter is Nana acknowledging her feelings about Yasu. Hachi’s middle of the night tying the knot with Takumi is more of a letdown than a reveal - Hachi’s childhood dreams squashed:

I almost wondered whether he was going to throw this lover to the dogs (but I guess she wasn’t a big enough scoop?)

I did like Nana’s letter to Hachi and the aptly named 焼酎

Agreed, I had the same thoughts! Also I had spoiled myself and knew the wedding would eventually happen, I happened to check Wikipedia at some point and unfortunately Hachi is listed in the character list as “Nana Ichinose” :frowning: (<- spoiler for chapter 54)

You need a Wiki-BRICK!

Haha I am not sure what a Wiki BRICK is?

Blocks access to certain sites (probably wouldn’t work with Wikipedia though).

Oh I see  I like Night Mode on Android, hides the notifications and I can look up Japanese words on my word during a reading session without worrying about non urgent messages that are awaiting a reply. This seems useful as well!

Oh I hadn’t thought of using night mode. I use Focus Friend usually, but because it can only do app blocking I can’t tell it that certain websites are ok for lookups. I have a dictionary app, but honestly, jisho is my favorite j-e Japanese dictionary so I get kinda crabby when I can’t use it

Night mode only doesn’t vibe super well with playing FF4, because then I have to play in black and white

And onto 第55話……

誰だよ、あの女!?

Misato, Mai, whatever her name is…..is looking pretty worried for most of this chapter - who is she?

What didn’t end up happening

Hachi might have thought Nana would congratulate her on her marriage, but that wasn’t what happened even if Hachi didn’t quite recognise it at the time.

What did end up happening

I’m sorry for Nana, but not for Yasu.

new favourite word おじゃま虫
