@borosorod Hey, I’m going way back here, but you editing the main post on September 22nd, and there seems to have been a lot of incidental formatting changes. Some I can’t even see what changed even though Discourse says there’s a difference, others are things that have no impact but are unexpected (for example, the table code going from |--- | --- | ---| to |----|----|----|). Most importantly though, all the br tags for the English translations disappeared, so now they are next to the Japanese, making it harder to read. From the diff, it looks like you were just trying to add the entry for ひきこまり吸血姫の悶々, but do you have any idea what happened? Do you remember if you did a full post edit or if you used the “Edit Table” feature to edit the table in the popup?
They probably edited the post while in the wrong mode and discourse messed everything up. Turns out it’s super hard to edit a table in the wrong mode, I tried just now in the poll thread to test and I couldn’t figure out how to make a new line in the table
It also took away my br tags and added more of the |----| just like you’re describing.

Dang, I completely forgot about that feature! I’ll have to experiment a bit and report a bug to Discourse.
I edited back the br tags to the affected sections ![]()
Thank you!
Hey hey, I just added a section for a new book club in the OP, Speed Run Book(/Manga) Club as we’ve finally made it official:
The original thread can be accessed here:
Please join us if you’re looking to feel a bit more confident reading manga! We’re at four series as a part of the book club already!
Psst, next time please ask before adding an entire section!
(it’s fine though, makes sense in this case)
I would probably have moved it after the Advanced Book Club (and probably the Children’s Novel Club too) so that we have the “classical” clubs on top and the “special theme” clubs below. But that’s just me and I am not very fuzzed either way.
Yeah, I’m not too fussed about the order either, but I do agree with you, so I’ll move it.
To add, the Children’s Novel Club section doesn’t even have a table yet and the club has only read one book so far. I expect these lists to be regularly maintained (I think we’ve all been a bit lax lately), but if that section isn’t updated by whoever’s in charge of that club in the next couple months I’m just going to remove the section entirely.
That’s because we haven’t finished a book yet! ![]()
Yes, that’s right
Not sure why there needs to be an ultimatum when the club just started.
Books are supposed to be added when they start. ![]()
It wasn’t an ultimatum, just a statement of what I’d do.
The club started three months ago and I figured that if the table still wasn’t updated a whole month after the second book started then the club owner wasn’t planning to update the master list and the section wouldn’t be worth keeping. Clearly there’s just a misunderstanding here since you didn’t know that in progress books are supposed to be included in the table. Now you know and hopefully this context explains my previous comment.
I’ll make sure to add all the previously read book titles when they’re finished! I can’t promise I will always remember to add the current/upcoming titles every time since I am already doing all the admin in the club’s home thread, so all the information should be current there. If anyone else wants to keep this thread 100% up to date they are welcome to do that.
I’m keeping it updated for the IMC (trying to at least), and I just made it a part of my routine. If a club thread is created, I have a checklist to add it to:
- the main post of the IMC as the next pick
- the main post of the IMC as the clickable result of the poll
- the Natively book club list
- the Master List of Book Clubs
I mean at this point, one more item to the list of things to do is nothing ![]()
In an ideal world, the person running a specific book club (not the whole continuous club) would update the master list when they create the home thread for that book club. That way it wouldn’t all fall on the person doing the rest of the admin for the club.
Oh, I see
I’m not sure if I realized whose job it was to add stuff to the master list!
Yeah, this topic is a wiki of course, but most clubs make their home topic a wiki as well. That way the person running a specific book club can update nearly* all the information, leaving the club leader mostly only needing to solicit nominations and run polls.
*Usually the only thing they can’t update is the topic title since that can only be done by the topic creator or Regulars
I agree, this would be nice ![]()
It says so in the guide too, that we usually share with people that are new to leading a book club:
How bookish should a club be to be added? I didn’t think of adding the Xenogears VG club, and I don’t see Trails of (or FF?) either. But it does have VNs. Should we add videogame clubs? If so as its own section or under an estimate difficulty level?
Edit: or maybe that’s the other media thread, though that’s t doesn’t get much traction/updates (last was May 2025)
Good question. In many ways, VNs are more like interactive, branching books than video games, so it makes some sense to include them. If general video games were added, it would definitely go in its own section. There’s really no “estimate difficulty level”, as the beginner/intermediate/advanced clubs are dedicated clubs with specific books selected via polls. I’d like to see if anyone else has an opinion before deciding though.
For longevity of all clubs and records like this, to be fair, it would be good for the overarching club leads to remind the book club leaders now and then to do it rather than doing it for them. Not only does it make less work for that lead, it means dramatically more people on the forum become aware of and take care of this great organisational resource
But that said tbf everyone is doing their best and in their limited free time, it works remarkably well.
