Today I watched some random stuff like a movie being streamed on Discord and 3 eps of the beginner anime club anime. Feel kind of bad adding the anime to my listening hours total since its so much less dense than a podcast or audiobook hahah

You’re probably way beyond needing this, but some exciting news that Satori announced they will start a collaboration with YUYU to get some of her edit his content on Satori (dedicated thread here for anyone who hasn’t heard of it). I actually wouldn’t have heard of YUYU is it wasn’t for this thread and your links, and I’m pretty excited!

・a handful of JLPT sample questions for each level
I have zero intention of ever taking the JLPT, I just did the sample questions to kinda see where I stood, and yeahhhh quite a few were just lucky guesses or close to it. One of the N1 listening questions, I had no clue what the hell the guy was saying, could not understand a single word, and then another was a double question and I couldn’t hold the info in my head long enough, but I doubt I could have in English either, so (hooray, ADHD).

Wellp. We got what we wished for. (And died. 全滅. In fact, some of us died more than once, and I ran out of Yggdrasil leaves!) I will be retrying that tomorrow, with 100 tension unlocked.

I’ve done the JLPT up to N2 and done well without living in Japan, but if you live in Japan you definitely have an advantage in the listening department & I don’t just mean because you’re surrounded by the Japanese language. There’s vocab to do with daily living requirements that you just don’t encounter with the same frequency listening to podcasts/movies/anime etc. My listening comprehension is generally better than my reading ability (which is why I’m doing WK) but every so once in a while I’d encounter vocab in JLPT questions I just didn’t know.

Although I haven’t been keeping posting here, I did manage to maintain my streak until yesterday! Emergency dental surgery and recovery led to a day of no Japanese listening at all. I will attempt to uphold my plan through the last days of August; the long weekend means I may have a bit more time and energy…
