If I’m adding Dragonball to the rotation, I might as well add Pokemon. Both of these were the animes that I watched before I even knew what anime was (technically Dragonball Z but I’ll start here). Pokemon was another series that was weirdly difficult to find. The english version was easy to find, sure, but in the modern day and age of endless streaming you would think at least one streaming service would have the original Japanese version….
I eventually found a way to watch it though. I need to get used to how different it is though lol so far the names of Pokemon are different, Ash is Satoshi, and there’s a different intro / outro sequence
Watched along on the JP twitch LoL channel. That was fun. Was surprised at the interviews afterwards when the hosts spoke both Chinese and Korean like both were their native languages. Was fun being able to pick up one word here and there even tho it’s been years - studied/scratched beginner level of both languages.
・N1 practice test on bunpro
Went alright, got a better score in listening compared to last time. I’m struggling with the section where the question is “what’s the first thing person x have to do?”. Maybe I should take more notes.
One weakness with BP’s listening section is that they don’t have the pre-question blabber as audio, it’s just text at the top. The audio file just goes straight into question mode. It’s good because it saves time having to skip past, but I think at the start of each question section should have that audio still. As it is now, makes you have to pause, then read the question format first while time is ticking down. At the jlpt, there’s instruction in the audio regarding whether you’re supposed to listen first or read the options first or after.
・Also caught up on top Kanae short clips during the last week on twitch. It’s good practice listening to people who play multiplayer games. People talking over each other and everyone’s audio volume being different, etc.
I was on the road most of the day yesterday doing instacart deliveries, so I had plenty of time to listen to Japanese music. I didn’t realize how fire 90s Japanese R&B was!
Went mostly alright, but when the detective starts geeking out about mysteries and book titles and year and authors, I fall off. It’s in one ear and out the other
