I learned 身代わり人形. Also encountered 虎の威を借りる狐 which I’ve learned recently from the series I’m currently reading.

Gosh, school has been busy sometimes. Finished the rest of the mall video, I liked when they emulated the massage chair experience. Also realized the コス in 韓国コス is short for Korean cosmetics. Then I watched a short video on わりかし, a term that means “better than I expected”, although the “better” can be any positive thing, like easier, tastier, cheaper, etc.

I decided to add Dragonball to the rotation. I was going to try to switch to Japanese subtitles for this one, since I watched it before and read the manga so I won’t get too lost without the English translation… but apparently Crunchyroll, even though their entire platform is Japanese animation, doesn’t have an option for Japanese subtitles smh

Wow, I posted on the actual date! Learned about the typical wearing verbs, but also some ones I’ve either never heard of, or rarely use, like はおる、はめる、しょう (背負う), and しめる.
More details
Also learned some phrases, like 水をかぶる = to be soaked (like someone dunked a bucket of water on your head!). I like how they demonstrated with a bag the different verbs it could be. I.e. holding it is 持つ, wearing it on your front is かける, and wearing it on your back is しょう. Also, putting things in your pocket, or in a bag you’re holding counts as 持つ. する and つける are the water cooler for wearing verbs, if an object doesn’t fall under the typical description it’s one of these two. Also しめる is typically used for ties and belts, but can also fall under つける.

God, that’s so frustrating and ironic. I sometimes hate it when I can’t find media with JP subs, but the worst is when the ENG subs are hard-coded into the video. Then I have to put a piece of paper up or seriously ignore the bottom of my screen lol.
Maybe try using the asbplayer extension + download subtitles from Jimaku.cc on a laptop/desktop? That’s what I’ve been doing to put JP subs on stuff.

Thanks, I’ll look into that! I can understand Netflix or something not having the subtitles, but I thought for sure Crunchyroll would. I use subtitles constantly even with English content, so the Japanese option would be nice to have
