It’s originally a U.K. custom and so is celebrated in some countries which were part of the Commonwealth. Here, in Australia, it’s a public holiday primarily known for its post-Christmas sales which used to be the biggest sale day here prior to the recent introduction/incursion of the U.S. Black Friday Sales.
