So I was browsing my steam Deck, unsure what to play when I was reminded of Ni No Kuni, so that’s what I played. Drippy (sorry シズク now), still manages to sound Scottish even when speaking Kansa-ben.
Anyway, this first part was mostly cutscenes, along with an interlude where I talked to every village in Detroit Motortown.
The game doesn’t really give me anything to measure progress with so far

I got a Hulu Japan account, and in the last two days, I’ve completed one BL drama, Mr. Sahara and Toki Kun, and am halfway through Mr. Unlucky Has No Choice but to Kiss. The first one was relatively easy to understand (with a few lookups here and there and some words I just let pass by). The second one is definitely more difficult. One of the MLs speaks super fast, and might I add that none of these have subtitles, so I am raw dogging it?

Today I watched another episode of Girls Und Panzer, so… anecodote time about one of my other favourite anime, Shirobako. Shirobako is an anime about anime production.
The director in Shirobako, Kinoshita Seiichi, is haunted by one of his past anime, Jiggly Jiggly Heaven, where production utterly broke down and there was a famously badly animated episode aired, followed by both the final slots being filled by recap episodes. Now Kinoshita Seiichi is based on Mizushima Seiji, who has never had that kind of failure.
But another director we should talk about is Mizushima Tsutomu. He’s important for this story, because he’s the director of both Girls Und Panzer, and Shirobako. And Girls Und Panzer’s original run had collapsed, with the final two episodes replaced by recap episodes. So there’s a good chance that Girls Und Panzer is Jiggly Jiggly Heaven. Though at least Girls Und Panzer never got as far as actually airing the cursed episode.
