Today was another 2 episodes of ゆるキャン。I actually remembered to take notes as I go today ![]()
Episode 3
For a while I thought the reason Rin was worried about the village with the squid specialty was she didn’t like squid, until they showed the budget and I realised it was about the cost. I had been feeling her fussy eater troubles so much ![]()
Game of Life showed up here, and I think in another anime recently. I played it a lot in my childhood but it was manufactured locally when I was a child, so I’d always assumed that it was just common locally because of that, so always surprised when it comes up in other media.
Speaking of culture things, I do find it funny their reaction was “Oh cool, seagulls”, and not “Hide the food!”.
I realised something which I’m sure is incredibly obvious to most people, but I’m like 10 anime in on Japanese subtitles but it only clicked with me that the reason the Japanese subtitles narrate sound effects so much more because they’re subtitles for hard of hearing Japanese people, compared to the subtitles for translation or subtitles for video games that can’t control the fact that they’re sometimes going to play overlapping voice clips. I only realised this because Yuru Camp has a lot of on screen text for text messages that the characters narrate over and I was like “Huh, there’s no subtitles here”. Which of course, Japanese people are just going to read it on the onscreen phone and not be waiting for it in the subtitles track, lol.
Episode 4
Oh, the standard opening is back, so that makes 2 out of 4 episodes they used it for.
Some students were saying さよなら to their teacher for the weekend. That seems a little weird?
The cold weather definitely makes it feel like the appropriate season to watch this season.
I feel nadeshiko’s despair at the lack of part time jobs. About 5 years before I was the age to have one, everyone had one at like 16. But then by the time it was time where I could get one, it was the other side of 2008, and suddenly there were no part time jobs because people who would prefer full time jobs were taking the part time jobs to have something. So part time jobs in the area I grew up moved from something people had near the end of school to something people had near the end of college. Though in my case the first job I had was a “real” full time 9-5 programming job.
What kind of name is Bivouac for a magazine? (One wikipedia search later: Ah, a type of makeshift shelter, maybe it makes more sense)
I’m pretty sure you’re really not meant to light those gas lamps indoors.
Ahh, so we get the standard opening XOR the standard closing this season it seems
