List of ◯っ◯り adverbs please

やっぱり
きっぱり etc

What are these called and where can I read more about them?

Can’t tell you anything about them, but here’s a list

Many words of this pattern are 擬態語.

This is perfect!

It’s a shame that this file makes up a name and claims there is no official one when, as I mentioned in my previous post, there is one. The list itself is fairly useful, but I feel like they didn’t even try to figure out what they’re called.

My understanding is that the writer couldn’t find a name for the specific subset of 擬態語 that are in the ◯っ◯り form, not all 擬態語.

I see. I guess that makes sense.

It’s also not super convincing to say “I asked a few Japanese and they didn’t know.”

If you asked random Japanese people on the street, you might have trouble finding someone who knows 形容詞 and 形容動詞. Linguistics isn’t a thing most people care about.

If it said something like “I asked some linguistics professors at the local university and they didn’t know” then the idea that this category of words needs a name would sound more convincing.
