This Level was a great addition to my repertoire. Whenever I read something in Japanese, I write down all the unknown words and some keep popping up again and again. A lot of these words did appear in this chapter! Many of them belong to the 最-Family. Now the time I spend looking up words has been greatly reduced, and I am grateful.
My goal for now is to keep my WaniKani streak going.
And I’m glad you got to watch Rilakkuma on Netflix! I love this character a lot The show is so charming and surprisingly a lax way to get your Japanese listening in
Got to level 43 yesterday! This month, I was a bit lazy with my WaniKani progress, but also a lot of the kanjis tripped me up this level. So many finger radicals… However, since I leveled up twice this month, I can’t complain.
I hear that this is the fast level, but I’m the type to not cram a lot of kanji lessons in a day. So, business as usual - the durtling business I also am behind (again) on vocabulary, starting from the level 40s… should clean those up.
don’t suppose anyone here has been studying consistently (unbroken streak) for 3+ years?
looking to recruit researchers for the special durtle sightings project
i’m only just over 1 year so far, and don’t intend to go on much past 3.5…
I’m at level 44 at last!!! Work put me in a wringer last month and this month with the amount of OT and unreasonable deadlines… The amount of stress I tell you… I have many questions about their scheduling, but shrugs. I’m just a cog in the machine. I’m now recovering from that awful period, and am back on my durtling journey.
I’m almost done reading 春の呪い volume 1. That has been on my list since forever, but a combination of laziness and being afraid of a furigana less manga reading. It’s been much more smooth sailing compared to my level 20s era trying to start reading this book. There’s many vocabulary words that seem to pop up in the level 40s and 50s, so I can’t wait to encounter them again on here.
I didn’t expect to level up this fast (for my pace), but I actually knew a lot of the kanji this level. Hence, I could zip through the lessons faster. 3/4 of the journey done is crazy to me. I’m gonna have to slow down though because I have vocabulary stragglers starting level 41.
Since I promised to reward myself every 5 levels, I got an artbook I was eyeing for a bit
I also managed to finally finish 春の呪い volume 1 and now I’m on volume 2 (the last volume in the series). One of my 2026 goals was to read one manga, so that’s checked off at last.
Oh I understand that struggle of letting reviews pile up that much over the years Glad you were able to power through the backlog. Cheering you on for the rest of your WaniKani durtling journey (and hopefully no more 1500 review piles )!
I must say, it was my favourite Level until now. I like reading a fantasy lightnovel and there were so many Kanji in this lesson, that I encountered frequently. Like 「競」「戦」「争」and「昔」, or these super common Kanji like「意」「味」and「初」.
At the beginning of the lesson I still thought I would get through this quicker, but then exam season struck. Funnily, my WaniKani heat map shows the two exam seasons very clearly…
