Let's climb Tokyo Skytree - level 60 in spring 2022

Don’t worry. Like I said, it was just out of curiosity. I thought I was already going nearly as fast as possible and saw that some people manage to get through the levels remarbly faster still.

I know that things will pick up soon too after a few levels, and I might just need to keep under the 100 apprentice items mark to not overwhelm myself. But, so far it’s been manageable, few hiccups here and there but mostly manageable.

Excellent. A really good pacing system is to do a fixed amount of lessons every day. Like 15 or 20. you have to find your pace and then stick with it.

The difficult thing is that, like with alcohol, the problems start when it’s already too late. Every excess will come back in 4 months and bite you in the 尻. So go slowly but steadily, always the same ritual every day.

I believe that to be the road to success with WK.

As you say, “prioritise current level” is good for leveling up when you need to, but as I need to balance this out with my leeches I then flip to “Ascending SRS stage” for all other times - this helps me to review the items that need that review the most.

I am batting the settings between the two constantly. I find it is the best of both worlds, though of course it would be nice to have a setting that automated this for me. Either way, far better than the standard ‘random’ order that you get in the native WaniKani web interface!

Just hit 天国! The kanji are definitely starting to feel pretty specific.

Does anyone struggle with the feeling that you’ve learned a ton, you’d remember most of it when you see it again, but not all of it? And that the number you’d forget will be higher as time goes on and as you keep cramming more kanji and vocab in? I feel like I’m getting close to hitting my wall, and I find myself wondering if I’m better off starting over once I get to 30, and to just learn the first 30 levels well?

Everyone’s wall probably comes at different points, and for me, the issue is that I need to do SO MUCH work on grammar, and keeping up with kanji progress makes it hard for me to muster up the time and desire to study grammar too.

Good luck to everyone! Let’s all do our best! o7

Are you reading native material? I found that joining one of the book clubs made a huge positive impact on both reinforcement and retention.

Probably won’t do that

I did a reset from level 31 to level 1 and stuff ist very solid now. I was surprised to see how much was still there, but there were many that felt completely new.

For me it was worth it. On the other hand, it’s a massive time investment and sometimes a waste of time. To go through all the srs stages for words like 行く, 日曜日 and 洗う is not very efficient.

You could also go through all the burned items in a few months and resurrect the ones you don’t remember well.

Only you can decide what’s good for you.

Yup, totally feel myself in grocery with no cart, having tons of stuff just start falling off my hands.
Then I see things keep burning and Enlightening and calm down a bit: guess this is how SRS system intended to work. I mean, it doesn’t guarantee you would grasp all the 100% things with the first peek. Not to mention WK SRS stages are far from any good - I’m using 1.8 default multiplier in Anki, while WK is 2.2 for Enlightened and ridiculous 4 for Burning. That is, for most people it’s rather natural to fail these stages, with default Anki multiplier being 2.
So it just sort out easy stuff and let you to work a bit more with difficult one, so eventually you carve it in your mind as well. This is core idea of SRS, I believe. At least, you won’t lose anything and difficult vocabs won’t get anywhere until you’ll be cool with them, this is relieving as well for me.

Which reminds me of Gustave Eiffel, who built himself a secret apartment on top of the Eiffel Tower, to which only he had a key.

Was there an elevator to get there?

Yes there was. It was Gustave Eiffel, after all.

I hope no one minds, but I went through and sorted them in order, by current level. : )

In a 2-3 days I’ll do new :high_brightness: STATS :high_brightness: , so be sure to update your current level soon, if it’s not up-to-date yet :relaxed:

What kinds of stats? :eyes: Did you mean as stats from the leader board? Or us logging on and off from the forums? (well I’m up to date regardless, but just curious). And will you post this in the thread later? ^^

I’ll generate a histogram of all climbers’ current levels like in my previous posts, e.g.

(I might need to rescale the x-axis in the coming stats, depending on how many users joined this month)

Anyway, for this I’ll import the complete leaderboards table, so I need freshest data
