No problem at all, helping out with the scripts is honestly such great learning experience for me. I never thought I’d get to where I’m at in this past year and half to be honest, javascript and web programming always seemed like such a mystery to me. I tried self learning years back, like 2010 era, and things were just not clicking for me beyond the basics, even though I was able to do some basic programming in C++ and Python at the time. I totally get not having the motivation though. My own brain struggles with that a lot, I often feel more at its mercy than in control of what it wants to focus on.
I’ll think over accepting the invite for the rest of the day but will likely do so. Just a matter of feeling out how much I trust my ability to not muck things up now. Thank you for the offer.
That’s what’s great about scripts; it doesn’t really matter if you mess things up!
I learned to program from creating these script. Spongebob Timecards was the very first script I made back in 2017, and I think it shows that I had no idea what I was doing. I saw other people making all these scripts, and I thought, “hey I bet I can figure out how to do that”. Then I just kept making more and more script, and eventually it got me a job as a software engineer.
Anyway, it’s alright if you don’t want to do it, it would just be nice to expedite releases when there’s a fix available already. There would be no extra steps for you; I have webhooks set up for all my scripts, so they are updated automatically on push to GitHub. If you screw anything up I don’t really mind, I’m sure someone would let you know and you’d fix it .
hi Kumirei, thank you for all of the scripts you have developed for the community!
i have been attempting to follow the link for Remove Useless Panels, but unfortunately it times out every time- is there a chance that the link might be dead?
Hi Kumirei! Thank you for all your hard work on these! For Move Notes To Top, it doesn’t appear to do anything. I tried adding *wanikani.com/subjects/review as an @include since it looks like the URL has since changed but the notes are not moved at all. Basically I like to have access to my own note when I need to refresh instead of hunting through all the info for the right box.
Forum is being flooded with creators making their JP language learning app. They’re all made with AI. I doubt we’ll ever see another Kumi who learned programming by carefully studying existing scripts, making new ones on their own “written by hand”, so-to-speak. Taking feedback with grace and carefully sewing together new features and functions with time and effort, line by line.
Wanikani has had several updates including a big overhaul on the dashboard and stuff under the hood. Not 100% sure, but I wouldn’t be surprised if most of the WK Kumi scripts are outdated by now. 仕方がない. Forum scripts like Regular Tracker (at least last time I used it) and Like Counter are still running okay.
I miss the time when Kumi was still around. Hope they’re doing well.
Love, Redglare
PS. Kumi hasn’t been around for a while, and it’d be hilarious if it turns out Kumi is a big supporter of AI, lmao.
