I’m not sure someone of my advanced age is meant to answer a post that starts ā€œyo sup,ā€ but if go to help and then ā€œknowledge guideā€ there is a general explanation of how wanikani works or you can just start on lessons. If you have used any SRS program before, the basics are not hard. And if you run into specific issues, people on the forum will help you out. Good Luck!

Welcome!

  1. Go at your own pace.
There are a lot of people who speed through the levels because that’s what they want to do. Of course, if completing Wanikani is your goal, then you may find that option more desireable. If you have another focus in mind, you don’t have to go that fast. You don’t have to do a whole load of lessons a day. A lot of lessons leads to a lot of reviews. See what works for you and your time schedule.

  2. If you have any questions, just as Charlie29 said, there are very helpful people here on the forums who will do their best to help.

  3. If you have any issues or questions you would like to directly ask the developers about, you can email them. You could also try the ā€œchat with usā€ feature, though I’ve never used it and am not sure how it works.

  4. If you already have a basic knowledge of Japanese, the first few levels might seem boring or slow. Perhaps you could speed through the first few levels, then slow down a little later.

  5. Grammar is not taught here. You have to learn about particles and verb conjugation elsewhere.

I think that’s it for the basics. There’s plenty of things you’ll pick up overtime if you decide to stick with Wanikani. Welcome to the community and enjoy your studies!
