You can also download the zip for the yellow book on the first row at the top. There’s a sentence pack in it, it’s nice to listen to. These books are great I would recommend getting it if you can If not well the sentences are still very helpful for listening practice .
Actually I was going to ask if anyone had any experience with the other titles by this publisher. So you’d recommend the first row of books as well? Have you looked at any of the other books by them?
Yes I would. They are vocabulary books but I find them really fun and well presented. They give you a red sheet and you can hide the japanese words to see if you know the word or not.
Here’s some pictures from the inside that I just took : https://i.imgur.com/bpVWkIM.jpg and https://i.imgur.com/X3QzXLW.jpg
I like that it’s not just a list of words but they put them in a sentence too. And you can check the ones you know and don’t. What I did is go over the whole book and check what I know and then I put all the sentences with words I don’t know in Anki.
I’m planning to get the TRY N4 book in a few months when I’m finished with Genki II. It seems people find them good but I can’t tell you much about them yet.
OH wow! I love that. OK I’ll definitely add these to my list to get in the future. Very cool. Thanks for the feedback!
You’re welcome Oh I forgot to mention one bad thing about it (for the N5 book anyway) is that they don’t use a lot of kanji so sometimes you think you don’t know a word but you do, they write a LOT of stuff in kana. I’m guessing they don’t in the latter books though.
I just finished my first graded book as well! I’d been looking forward to getting them for a long time, and wish I’d gotten them sooner now! I read one called 絵型奥さん from that same book (Ask Level 2 Vol1). So looking forward to reading the one you mentioned as well! I was surprised the graded readers all come as separate little books in one package. I got that one and the Taishukan Vol 1 set (since this is Levels 0,1,2, given that I read an Ask Level 2, I’m worried will be a little easy. It was so good reading almost straight through the book. I had to look up a few words online, and a few grammar points, and it’s good how it showed me usage of how to say a few things as well. I’m so hyped right now after reading my first one!
I read one to my partner (which I translated to English as I read). It was about a dog. We love dogs.
Didn’t realise it was the story of Hachiko.
I started bawling half way through.
I didn’t stop reading though.
That story is really sad! But a good one for sure. There are a number of pretty sad stories in that series actually xD.
