JLPT 2025!

Just gone midnight here in Tokyo, folks, which means…

Less than 100 days to go!

I finally looked at the results as well and to my absolute surprise I passed N3.

This has been my dream right from the beginning and I never thought I’d make it this far. Somehow N3 has always been the level that I looked up to. I’m so so happy

Spent my Sunday studying at the library with a friend in commemoration of the passed exam

Congrats! Not sure why but I sort of feel similar about N3? Would love to get it one day - feels like you can properly call yourself an intermediate learner of Japanese at that point… and now you’re there! Well done.

I hope you had some cake during / after your celebratory library session.

I registered for JLPT N1 in Madrid! I’ve never beed to Madrid, so at least it’ll be fun

I passed N2 with a barely pass score last summer, so I have no idea what are my chances. I’ve been doing all sorts of studying ever since, but N1 is N1. For now I feel pretty relaxed, I don’t have any expectations to pass, but it would be really nice to have “B2” on my certificate

Only a few weeks to go! :open_mouth:

Why does time fly when you’re having kanji

I know… The wait for this summer’s JLPT felt like an eternity to me, but this time the test totally creeped up on me. Could have something to do with the fact that last time I started studying in October

I passed my first attempt at one of Bunpro’s N3 mock exams! It was by a narrower margin than I would’ve liked, but I’ve still got almost a month left to really drill down on listening.

Maybe I’ll finally get around to taking one of the JLPT tests in 2026. It would definitely feel good to get the N1 after so many years toying with Japanese.

For those in Japan who haven’t seen, they’ve now sent out test vouchers, and you can login to check where you’ll have the exam

It’s getting eerily close…

Less than one week left! How’s everyone feeling about their chances? Any interesting cramming strategies?

I’m going for N1, and I’m tragically bad at vocab, but I feel pretty confident about everything else. Although considering that vocab is the major part of the Language Knowledge section, I feel really anxious that I’ll fail this section, and also there is a risk I’ll be super stressed and it’ll be difficult to concentrate, which will deteriorate my chances in general.

I decided to relax and just flip through the Shin Kanzen Master grammar book from time to time (I highlighted grammar points in the index that are a bit shaky for me). But it is because I’m super tired of cramming.

Originally I planned to do as many past tests as I could and analyze my mistakes.

Currently my main goal is to make myself rested and ready to fight at my full capacity on the exam day. And by that I mean sleep well, stay hydrated and minimize stress. I think it’ll contribute the most in my chances to succeed at this point than anything else.

This is also my focus this week. My test is early (registration closes at 8:30am) and I woke up at about 8:30 this morning… So I’ve been trying to get into bed earlier and earlier since last week and not stress too much. Been doing 1-2 Marumori grammar points a day, just bc I think the website is fun, and other than that just reading and watching Japanese stuff.

皆さん頑張りましょう!

Nervous… Going for N1, to be honest I think my chances are worse now than they were this summer when I failed it. I haven’t been practicing as much as before, just trying to read books. (Book singular, actually). But this time I’m bringing a watch.

I’d trade if possible, I’m always up early but the check in isn’t until 12:30-1, which was too late to safely drive the 5+ hour trip the morning of, but much later than I’d like to be going home afterward. as it is, I’ll be rolling into the Ft Lauderdale area Saturday afternoon or evening, and then going into Miami for the first time ever for the test, which I am so not prepared for but hopefully at this point just hoping I’m at least feeling better.

I’m part of the N2 crew!! Taking it in Boston - less than 20 hours to go. Not sure whether to cram a bit more on reading comp (my major weakness) or just relax, have a glass of wine and let it be.

Regardless of what happens it will be a relief to have it behind. I bought a serious amount of novels in Japan in my last couple of visits but they’ve been lying there waiting since I’ve been prioritizing exam prep in the last few weeks. Will be nice to go back to “real” language learning for a bit..

Good luck everybody! Hopefully 3rd time’s the charm with N3. First time taking it the JLPT in Japan. At least, unlike last year, I’m only a little sleep deprived.

Best of luck to everyone taking the JLPT today! I remember the grueling hours spent with my nose in a textbook, and the 3-hour gauntlet of testing concentration ability during the N1 back in 2021. Take a deep breath, don’t brood over previous sections once they’ve concluded, and take full advantage of your break times. You’ve got this!
