Practice is the best remedy for that; I found [graded readers](https://community.wanikani.com/t/graded-readers-and-parallel-texts-book-club/35099) a great place to start, and then I was able to progress to the [Absolute Beginners’ Book Club](https://community.wanikani.com/t/absolute-beginners-book-club-currently-reading-mitsuboshi-colours/34698).

Taking practice tests is also helpful by familiarising yourself with the format and time/volume of material ratios.
