Good News/Bad News of Reaching Level 6 right before a long weekend.
Good News! Yay level 6. Yay new things. Did a lesson started that flow.
Bad News! barely did reviews, and could hardly retain any of the the new stuff. So spending my next few days, probably doing reviews over lessons.
I’ve made a mistake! 🌌 Artemis III: Back to the moon! - level 60 in autumn 2027
As in, I’ve now bitten off something big, and here’s hoping it isn’t really a mistake.
I forgot this in my last post, it’s kind of bare, because i didn’t log my weekend reviews. I guess even feeling like I’m behind, the numbers don’t really match it up.
Ahhhh thanks for sharing the Artemis III level 60 challenge! I would have missed and and wouldn’t have joined otherwise. I’m currently in the same category as you (level 1 to 9). Hopefully we both make it up to level 60 by the deadline!
Quick note, whenever you get the chance, you can try to move your line up a little to be in the level 6 section since it seems like we’re supposed to order ourselves based on the “current level” line (I initially put my name and level numbers at the very bottom as well before realizing). I thought of maybe moving your name up myself but I’m not sure if there’s any rules about moving around other peoples edits so I thought I’d just let you know instead.
Also I’ve read over the thread you have going, it was fun to read through someone who went through a similar experience as me with having to go through a huge backlog of reviews and lessons due to taking a break. It’s very frustrating at times but once that backlog is clear, the reviews and lessons feel very smooth and quick. Good luck with your studies!

Best of luck getting to 60! And thank you, it does seem there’s a lot of us who started, fell off, and came back to a backlog. the power we have is making it through and continuing.
So the funniest thing to me with level 6 is seeing the words that I already unlocked. I apparently have already guru’d 9 vocabulary before even opening the level. I burned 四十二 on October 29, 2025, less than a month after I came back. That means I have MORE burned vocab in level 6 than level 5. That’s wild!
Study day 54.
I’ve unlocked the last vocab from Level 5! Apparently knowing 青 as the kon’yomi あお REALLY hurts you remember the on’yomi せい or しょう. BUT I have gurud it after A MONTH. So…who knows.
Tomorrow I should have guru’d the first few kanji of the level. and probably missing that thirteen days, but hopefully no more than 21.
Study Day 55:
Nothing particularly new, just trying to keep up doing this every day. I need to remember were i could type kana/kanji so i can stop hunting for the vocab and copy it over. Make me life a ton easier when writing these posts.
Day 59!
It’s progress. Slow progress. and now way do I get out of level 6 in three days. I did very little over the weekend, and no new lessons. That is reason 1.
Reason 2: No way in hell I’m going to remember 私 as し and not わたし.
Now, It’s possible, if I’m very VERY diligent and lucky, but Friday will probably be the earliest I level up. which…sad? Maybe. I dunno. I was on level 5 for 9 years and took me two months back to get out of it. So, not REALLY stressing.
Been staring at my stats this morning. And it is possible for me to guru the 28 Kanji this week. I did lessons this morning, so I just my step 2 (nailed all by 科). So can do Apprentice 2 at 8 tonight. No big deal. Tomorrow at 8. then thursday at 8 I can knock out the final and boom, level 7.
This presents me with a larger quandry. I will now be level 7, with ~100 vocab words unlocked. Which will lead to many, MANY lessons. which is kind of the opposite of the problem when I reached end of Level 5, which I intentionally didn’t do the final lessons to level out my reviews. So…We’ll see how that goes.
Part 2! I am so annoyed at my curve being messed up on levels now, with Apprentice 2 being above 3. Yay 1 is nearly empty, but boo curve being bad. We’ll ignore how it looked a month and a half ago!
