Hai! I understand the sentence, but could you (or anyone) explain what のが’s function is here? I tried searching for it on my own but think I found information about other things in Japanese.
It’s the same as のは, but used for emphasis. At least that’s how I understood it so far.
EDIT: It’s used in Tae Kim’s guide in a couple of places (like here), but never explicitly explained in this context. However, for instance like in this sentence:
料理をするのが好き。
みなさん、仕事は何ですか。

両チームはそのバスケの試合の終わりでそれぞれ変に間違えました。
それぞれ
“Both teams each made strange mistakes at the end of that basketball game.”
それぞれ: “each”, “respectively”, “in [its] own way”
Does the 変に間違えました say what I intend or would something close to the literal English like 変な間違いをしました be better?

昨日の話題を続いている。

数日間僕は暇があるからには、気が散らないうちに毎朝わざわざ運動と勉強をしています。
