今日は砂嵐が降った!仕事の後でお風呂に入った、髪の毛が土がいっぱい、びっくりした!(;゚Д゚)

Today there was a sandstorm. After work I took a bath, I was surprised that my hair was full of dirt (dust).
I had to look up how to say sandstorm, I wonder if just サンドストーン is more commonly used?

初めまして!I’d say 砂嵐 is the safer option, as the Wikipedia article about sandstorm(s) is also titled that way! If you were to use the katakana version, I’d say it’d rather be サンドストーム than サンドストーン(sand stone). That being said, I’d never heard the word for sandstorms before today

砂嵐ってやばいですね!ここ、今日は雪が降ってたので、全然違いますね!

Thank you for the correction I didn’t realize I wrote the wrong word hehhe…

木曜日
今朝はお母さんと電話に話しました、昨日の昼地震があったっていた。違うの国に住んでいるから知りませんでした。母さんは何も感じないといった、大丈夫ですね。

“This morning I spoke with mom on the phone, she said that yesterday afternoon there was an earthquake. I didn’t know this because we live in different countries. She said she didn’t feel anything at all, and I was glad.”
Goodness, writing is SO difficult, I want to say soooo many things but I’m so bad at it lol.

頭が痛い、子供たちはちょっとうるさいですね。毎日、授業の時は「静かにしなさい!」と言っていますけど、まだ教室の中には音がめっちゃ高い!

Translation: “My head hurts, kids are a bit loud. Every day when it is time for class I tell them “please be quiet” but still, inside the classroom is super noisy.”
This is what I get for making exiting games, they go crazy! :sob:

When combining a ます-ending sentence with the next one, I use が instead of でも. So I’d write 言っていますが、まだ教室の中にetc. seems ます+けど is a possible pattern though, but hopefully it’s more familiar to someone else on the forum :slightly_smiling_face:

Ohhh yes! I don’t know why I didn’t think of using ます+けど! I think I have more present that pattern than the が used as a conjunction.
I appreciate your correction so much btw, I always feel it’s pointless to write without ever knowing if I’m making sense

I’ve been meaning to try to write my short sentences in a journal as well so I can try to remember the stroke orders, I’ll go to a stationary store this weekend~

No worries! I’m far from fluent too, and the people on this thread often help me out too, so this is definitely my recommendation for a place to try out new grammar patterns etc :slightly_smiling_face:

Writing by hand is definitely a good way to practice kanji etc. too! In Chinese I had a teacher that had us write every kanji (well, hanzi) six times!

働いた職場の駐車場でいつもカモメ一羽がいた。「トッド」と名付けて毎日「おはよう」と言った。でも、ある日、トッドが私のベーグルを盗もうとした。だから一週間にトッドに話さなかった :rage:

There was always a seagull in the parking lot at my old work. I named him Todd and said hi to him every day. But one day he tried to steal my bagel, so I didn’t talk to him for a week.

それがひどい!トッドはそんなのことしようとしてベーグルを盗みやがたのは残酷。友達ってさえ考えたのに(かも)。友達に戻るといい!

That’s cruel! That Todd even tried such a thing and had the nerve to try and steal the bagel is terrible. Depsite you even thinking of him as a friend (probably). I hope you can return to being friends!

My aunt gave me a bag of her old clothes! She always has the cutest stuff, and they’re comfy too! There are things like some really soft long sleeved shirts, a pair of black and white striped shorts, and a pink/gray flannel. Out of the whole bag there were only four things I didn’t keep.
