I usually get out of bed if I don’t fall asleep in 30 minutes
I go on a short walk with my dog twice a day, in the morning and evening
What I was trying to say: When my friend slipped on a banana peel, I burst out laughing.
Getting back to this as I want to practice actual writing more …And… Well… Japanese too, I guess…
TRANSLATION: Today I was practicing questions for my car theory test.
I want to finish Genki 2 this year, then start Quartet 1 in January
When as in question, not the time something happened, that’d be の時 for nouns and た時 for verbs.
I think 笑い出した would be more natural for burst into laughter.
If you just remove the いつ, it would be: my friend slipped on a banana peel, and I started laughing.
滑る is also intransitive, so slip on something, not slip something.
済みたくて、te form of たい no?
So it might be better as:
僕の友人は バナナの皮で滑ってた時、僕は笑い出した。
?
Better, yes. I might add a に after 時, but here it just looks like you’re omitting it.
The amount of ぼくs make it sound a bit weird, but that’s normal at the start. I’m also still unsure about double はs in a sentence, so I’d probably avoid it.
I would say it like this:
友達がバナナの皮で滑った時、僕は笑い出した。
Disclaimer: I usually don’t edit sentences because I don’t want to make a mistake and have someone think the way I say something is the correct one, so I usually just mention what I feel is wrong or could be improved.
I was unsure about double 僕 and は but I didn’t know if 友達 was too informal compared to 友人 (like the way you need to say 母 not お母さん)
友人 is fine, but do you have friends that you couldn’t say are your friends informally?
Or do you mean informal speech towards other people? Nah, I’d say it’s fine.
If we’re talking about the job from last month, I was fired within the first week.

“コーヒーを飲んだらどうですか。”
“It’s twelve o’clock, but I’m already tired.”
“Why don’t you drink some coffee?”
