Is this a bug or am I just dumb

I kept staring at the answer for a difference between this and I couldn’t see anything. Am I just missing something really obvious?

For reference, when I was typing this, I got halfway through it (typing the “yuu” half), tabbed out, then tabbed back in and accidentally wrote “BE” in all caps because I had caps lock on. I’m not sure if any of that would confuse wanikani but that’s the only unusual thing I did when typing the answer in.

Stuff written in caps will be converted into katakana, so that’s probably why you got it wrong. The ベ is most likely katakana.

What Ditto said (Ditto Ditto). Caps converts to katakana.
BE in katakana is ベ.
BE in hiragana is べ.

Alright, that makes sense. I’ll try to be careful about putting in caps. Thanks!

How unfortunate that this happened with べ – the difference would have been clear with almost any other hiragana/katakana pair!
