Is the audio in Flaming Durtles native or text-to-speech?

Using the Android app & noticed they are audio files to download.

They are real voices. The same ones as provided by WK on the website

Durtles seems to have extra features than this site so I thought maybe some of the audio isn’t from WK.

Side question: I was just doing the first kanji “one” on this site & see two readings for it but only mnemonics for one of the readings. Now I’m lost. Are we supposed to memorize one or two readings when we start wanikani?

For kanji characters you will memorize either the onyomi or the kunyomi readings, depending upon which WK thinks is more useful. Often there will be more than one reading of any given type. In which case, I just memorize one. Then in the vocabulary, you’ll memorize the other readings as they are introduced with the words.

I like this script for presenting which type of reading WK is looking for in reviews.

Wanikani only expects you to learn the reading(s) they list the mnemonic for. Flaming Durtles provides all the readings for completeness and there may be an option to turn that off in the settings.

You need to learn the reading associated with the mnemonic. You will learn additional readings as you open up vocabulary using that kanji, but for the moment, you don’t need to worry about them.
