It was used in a context sentence and as I translated it with the google translator it gave me two answers: the text beneath the kanji said ひと while the voice over said にん. I´m a little confused if you can use both or is one of them wrong?
Voice is usually correct but as you can tell Google Translate is not the most reliable tool around. It works as a counter in 五百人 which is said as にん

Ahh, thanks. Do you know a better platform, wich shows you the reading and the spoken form?
It’s better to say that there’s no perfect automated translator around.
And if there was, there’d be much less of a reason to learn the language in the first place.
To answer the question “Then how might you figure this out?”
You can start by trying to break down the word into fewer parts if possible; in this case, 百人.
Also, using browser extensions like Rikaitan can really help here.
