The practice for writing kanji should be live now. Try it out and feel free to leave some feedback. I had to build this pretty fast so there might be some issues with it.
You can practice either on the kanji page, during lessons, or make a quiz with your settings.
The logic for each stroke is the following:
1st mistake won’t count as mistake
2nd one will add 1 mistake
3rd one will show a hint on the next stroke
(This doesn’t count towards SRS obviously so you can cheat as much as you want 
)

This is very cool. I am new to user generated/third party apps and I have a question. If I do lessons in your app will the app update my WaniKani account in real time, or do I have to log in a particular way for that to happen? Thank you so much!
Yes, they’re both in sync - lessons and reviews you do in this app will count towards your WK progress. You can log in with the same email you’re using in Wanikani or with the API token - which you can get here.
Heya @Portego I would like to try it out for Android I see you are looking for beta testers. The app looks really well made. I have a nothing 3a device. And seeing it is made with react native should mean that it should work almost without problem.
Hey @Portego just wanted to say you’re the best. I think honestly it is crazy how fast you implement the features, never seen something like this! This app is now the ultimate Wanikani companion app, I really think the best and most important features are now added to use Wanikani to the fullest, all thanks to you! I‘m definitely going to give you a tip. You SOOO deserves it and I hope the other people that used this app will do the same (if their financial situation allows that!).
(Just a small thought: the app feels super solid already and adding every requested feature might risk making it too complex

wow I just tried it out and it may replace tsurukame on my phone! The layout looks great and I love being able to hear anime clips 
A small note though, sometimes its the clips are not so accurate. (Ex: 映す has many examples using 上映する with the anime clips) It’s not a big deal however, and I’m fully loving exploring the many features in this app! Like I just discovered the writing kanji function, and I’ll definitely be using it to help practice new kanji I learn. I really hope it can have a web version one day… but I shall happily be using on my phone for now. I’m super impressed that a single person was able to make something so polished and full featured!
This is app is perfect.
I would only ask one thing. When I’m reviewing cards, I don’t hear the sound of the word. In the web version, you could click to hear the sound or there was even an option to automatically play it. Maybe this already exists and I just don’t know how to use it in app.

Thank you! One other note: I wish the reviews were more like WK in the following sense: when I switch kanji and vocab readings, WK will let me know it’s looking for the other without marking it “wrong”. Is there an option for that in the app right now? It helps me because I’m not always paying attention to the colors when I get in a groove.

Yes, I’ve noticed this too. The API I’m using behaves that way, but I can add some logic on my end to filter these out. However, I’m still very noob in Japanese so I’m not sure if there’s any rule to properly filter these out (besides checking if the reading is different from the original vocabulary).
Yes, the feature is built in the app, you have to enable it in the settings screen. This is only for vocabulary words and when you submit the reading correctly.
Can you explain this a bit or point out the script? Is this just replacing the on’yomi readings for katakana instead in the details page?
Yup, I can add this setting to show reading and meaning questions back to back. Will start working on it in the next few days

Sure, using katakana for onyomi is a standart practice in Japanese dictionaries, it’s easier to get used to it during the learning phase.
