[iOS, Android, Web] Wanilog, modern WaniKani stats

Thank you rebrand! Good catch - this calculation should be better now :folded_hands:

I’m planning on buying a WK subscription later this week, but it would be cool to see Kanji Oddysey/ projection of how long it takes to lvl 60 if you have the free WK plan.

But overall kudos this is such a great app!

I don’t understand this request. By definition levels of 4 or above are inaccessible with a free plan. There is no way to reach level 60 with a free plan.

You can achieve level 4 on the free plan, but it won’t let you learn any new lessons.
Wanilogs:

Wanikani message:

Probably not worth the manpower to implement if it takes a long time. I was just wanting to see how long it takes to be lvl 60 before I buy Wanikani, but I could be a unique case.

This is exactly what I meant. You can’t study any item level 4 under the free plan.

I suppose you want the projection of how long it requires to reach level 60 if you upgrade to Wanikani premium. Then you should say so.

if you were to ā€œspeedrunā€ wanikani as a few people have, then it would take about one year… minimum. the fastest that most levels can be completed (if you do every lesson and review immediately when they come up, and never fail any items during reviews) is slightly over 6 days. 60 levels at a pace of one level per week, with a handful of them being ā€œfastā€ levels, gets you to the 1 year mark.

my experience with the first four levels has been that a ā€œrelaxedā€ pace is more like two weeks per level. wanilog estimates it will take me a little over two years. i moved the slider to 21 days/3 weeks, and the end date moved out an extra year. see the screenshots below!

so, this calculation is basic. a rough estimate. you dont need the app to do this for you. how long do you need to finish each level? multiply that by 60 and you’ll have your answer. assuming, of course, you stay consistent

edit: just a note for OP, i noticed while looking at the screenshots myself that the ā€œsomewhere betweenā€ estimate doesnt change when you move the slider. a bug, perhaps?

Thank you Astramari, just fixed this!

Hi everyone, I’ve just added a new feature to Wanilog: Leech Trainer!

I wanted a quick and easy way to review the leeches that Wanilog highlighted to me, so this is available now on the accuracy page or via the homepage itself.

Enjoy, and let me know if you have any feedback!

Where do I see those?

You can find it on the homepage in the SRS distribution tab* :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Great, thanks! Do you have the outside of wanikani feature for radicals and vocab too?

No worries! Not yet but I will look into it :eyes:

Hey everyone, three new features since I last posted:

  • I’ve added achievements - 40 collectable medals across 6 categories with bronze/silver/gold/platinum tiers. They backdate from your existing WK data so most of you will find a bunch already unlocked. Click any medal for a description and progress bar, and there’s optional cloud sync to keep them across devices.

  • I’ve also added public share profiles (opt in only!) - a quick and easy way to share your stats, level history, recently unlocked medals, JLPT/Joyo/frequency coverage, with your friends. There’s also a rotating set of ā€œdid you knowā€ fun facts that shuffle on every refresh.

  • Additionally, there’s now support for site wide ę—„ęœ¬čŖž - find this on the settings page.

Here’s my profile as an example: https://wanilog.com/u/ricardo1

Enjoy!

Alr thanks! Great site btw

For the forecast feature is there a way to get your locked items into the pool. I have 41 in my unlocked pool but i want to see what kind of review queue I’ll have in the future. I want to optimize for 100 reviews in a day. 150 tops so it’s easy and more reading can happen.

That way i can see if I’m adding or draining my apprentice queue.

Thanks for the suggestion! I’ve implemented this now, and totally overhauled how the forecast is calculated. It should be a lot more accurate now.

There’s also a new simulator in the ā€œHow is this calculatedā€ drop down so you can see more about how it works.

Thanks for the update! Looks like 15 lessons will not drain my queue down to 150 daily reviews. :open_mouth:

Is the forecast tool accurate. It says for my account I should have 333 reviews today, but I only have 230 reviews for today June 3rd.

Tomorrow its forecasting 322 but I only have 283 forecasted lessons. And my accuracy is about the same, 86% so I should be higher. But the number on the forecaster is set for an 88% accuracy.

I want to be at around 200 daily lessons.

I’ve just updated the logic a bit and added a ā€œtarget daily reviewsā€ - could you check again?
