人生に悩む人々が、ふとしたきっかけで訪れた小さな図書室。

仕事や人生に行き詰まりを感じている5人が訪れた、町の小さな図書室。「本を探している」と申し出ると「レファレンスは司書さんにどうぞ」と案内してくれます。
狭いレファレンスカウンターの中に体を埋めこみ、ちまちまと毛糸に針を刺して何かを作っている司書さん。本の相談をすると司書さんはレファレンスを始めます。不愛想なのにどうしてだか聞き上手で、相談者は誰にも言えなかった本音や願望を司書さんに話してしまいます。
話を聞いた司書さんは、一風変わった選書をしてくれます。図鑑、絵本、詩集…。
そして選書が終わると、カウンターの下にたくさんある引き出しの中から、小さな毛糸玉のようなものをひとつだけ取り出します。本のリストを印刷した紙と一緒に渡されたのは、羊毛フェルト。「これはなんですか」と相談者が訊ねると、司書さんはぶっきらぼうに答えます。 「本の付録」と――。

I haven’t read it myself yet, but it is recommended for fans of Before the Coffee Gets Cold, and described as a charming, internationally bestselling Japanese novel about how the perfect book recommendation can change a readers’ life.
