I’m not sure if it’s because English isn’t my first language but I have “wrong” answers like this so many times… Especially when it’s been a while and I can’t remember the exact English translation
I just needed to complain for a second haha, now I’m over it.
Feel free to add it as a synonym. If it makes sense in your head and is not totally far off, I think it is more important to move on than to torture yourself with English. On rare occasions (some medical terms and stuff) I even put in a word in my native language instead ^^.
The goal is to learn Japanese, after all. Wanikani is just a springboard to start reading and progressing with the language
Me, too! Sometimes I know what the word means, but my brain stubbornly fails to serve up the corresponding English word.
This is a perfect use case for “cheat” scripts, to let you mark your answer correct. If you know the meaning, then you know the meaning, even if your typed answer doesn’t perfectly match what WK has.
Yeah, so far I’ve held off on using scripts, but I feel like maybe I’ve come to the point where it might be helpful… Although, I usually do review piles of max 60/70 reviews, and if I get a word “wrong” that I feel was right (like in this case), I’ll F5 and start over, and it’ll give me some extra practice too
Yeah, I usually add them as synonyms, but in this case it was the final review before the vocab word be buried haha. I refreshed and redid the reviews until I got this one right
But yeah, I’ve definitely also added user synonyms in my language! Especially cos I’m also taking classes, and learning vocab Japanese → Dutch, so sometimes a Dutch word sticks better in my head as the translation.
