[I made this] Free Japanese vocabulary lists organized by theme (71 topics, JLPT-sortable)

[I made this] Posting in Resources because the pinned “About the Resources category” description invites resources you’ve made — happy to take it down if it falls foul of the no-spam rule.

A free Japanese vocabulary tool that organizes ~1,600 words across 71 everyday themes — no signup, no ads paywall:

A sample of themes:

  • Bank (25) — account, deposit, withdraw, ATM, interest, currency exchange
  • Pharmacy (24), Post Office (23), Salon (24), Gas Station (19), Court (24), Police Station (26)
  • Weather (32), Colors (30), Body Parts (35), Family (30), Countries (123), Numbers (36)
  • Occupation (50), Clothes (32), Fruit (34), Seafood (20), Meat (18)
  • Kitchen Tools (17), Tableware (17), Seasoning (15), Tea (16), Alcohol (15)

Each theme page has:

  • Sortable table — kanji + hiragana + romaji + English
  • JLPT sort order (N5→N1 or N1→N5)
  • Copy-All button for exporting the list straight into Anki or a notebook

How it pairs with WaniKani study: when a kanji shows up in a lesson — e.g. 銀 from 銀行 — open the Bank theme and you see it in a context cluster (預金, 引き出す, 利息, etc.). Sort by JLPT to scope to your current level, then copy out the words you don’t already know and SRS them alongside WK reviews.

Built to give “context clusters” alongside the kanji-by-kanji approach WaniKani teaches. Feedback welcome — what theme is missing, what word is wrong, what would make it more useful.
