Thank you all for your positive words and helping me finish level 22 after 97 days and 12 hours. I am happy to move to level 23 and i hope that level 23 will go smoothly.

Is the reviews piling up that got to you or the difficulty of the kanji?

Yes, the reviews piling up, leeches, moving too quickly. I’m going very close to full speed and it is definitely a struggle. On top of reading everyday, practicing additional vocab outside of WK + grammar studies.

I think the kanji starting from level 20 is very difficult.

Good news: you don’t have to! You don’t need to wait until your level is in the 30s to start reading. When you can start reading depends more on your grammar than your WK level.

The Absolute Beginner’s Book Club has furigana so knowing kanji isn’t that much of an issue, though it’s recommended your grammar is about N5 level and knowing some kana words will help. Here’s ChristopherFritz’s guide to joining so you can check for yourself how ready you are.

If that seems a bit too much for you, you can also try the free Tadoku books. They start off really simple, I reckon you could probably read the Level Start books even without knowing much grammar, though I already had a decent grammar basis when I found these so take that with a grain of salt.

Well full speed is just crazy though hahaha
I’m taking a much more chilled approach and just trying to stay consistent. I’ve tried reading as well but I just don’t seem to have the necessary vocab knowledge
 My grammar might also be lagging behind
So yeah slow and steady wins the race? Or at the very least makes it to the end lolol
