At this point I don’t always enjoy it, but I put my feelings aside and get it done because the best way out is through. I am a weary ball of tenacity.
Is it fun? It’s definitely more fun at the beginning but it’s still a bit fun. Is it frustrating? Often. Challenging? Moreso, the longer you stick with it, because it’s a test after all.
Is it a pain? Sure, but anything worth anything in life is a pain. 
Is it rewarding? Yes. Arguably the most impenetrable major writing system in the world springs to life before your very eyes. The reward just doesn’t come easy or cheap. Especially once you hit the Death levels…
The bleak picture isn’t so much to say “this is how it will definitely turn out”, it’s just pointing out a risk you may find yourself having to manage. And at the end of the day, it’s a workload that’ll be there waiting for you to deal with it whether you feel like dealing with it or not.
