Yes, that’s precisely what I meant. In every situation, you should definitely use the exact words “I’m humbled”.
My favorite by far is:
- 中心 (ちゅうしん) : center
- 心中 (しんじゅう) : double suicide
At least their meaning are pretty far apart…
階段 - stairs
段階 - stage
comes to mind - probably because they’re pretty fresh for me.
会議 - meeting
議会 - Diet/congress/whatever
are currently causing me a little trouble
凹凸 - uneven
凸凹 - uneven
Same meanings, dramatically different readings.
途中 - halfway / midway
中途 - …halfway / midway
One that is probably only relevant to me:
分子 ぶんし molecule
子分 こぶん henchman
Two with (almost) the same meaning
木材 (もくざい) wood
材木 (ざいもく) lumber
Not in every situation
Princess 王女 and Queen 女王
Because you and your henchman discuss molecules?
Oh boy, I got bit by this one in a book a few months ago. I was very confused!
You wouldn’t believe how close you are.
… you are in fact so close, it’s technically true.
I only remembered it because it’s the only set i haven’t got confused, since I already knew the vocabulary from 赤髪の白雪姫 (Snow White with the Red Hair), where the main character is addressed as 「王女様」 XD
Every other set, on the other hand… ¯\ _ (^ ~ ^')_ /¯
論理 (ろんり)
理論(りろん)
Yes i don’t know how to add furigana. And yes i don’t know them yet. All i know one is “logic” while the other is “theory”
Meeting starts with the kanji for meet, that’s how i remember it.
I remember them because 論理的 (logical) is pretty common.
Oh. Thanks
it is not stupid if it is working.
But it looks hard to remember
You humble me.
