How does Pitch Accent work in the context of Japanese Music?

Japanese songs often extend or shorten vowels contrary to how they would sound in spoken Japanese if it’s convenient.

Came to say this / check that someone else had said it and I would assume the same is true for pitch accent too.

A similar thing happens in a lot of English songs - a word’s normal stress pattern will be moulded to fit the song’s melody, or a vowel sound will be extended across consecutive notes, or a word will be slightly mispronounced so that it rhymes more closely with another word, etc. Words become very malleable when they become lyrics
