How Do You Level Up In The WaniKani Leveling System?
Guru all radicals and 90% of the kanji for the current level. This means 4 successful reviews in a row after doing the lessons.
Thank you!
Vocab have nothing to do with leveling up, but it helps with learning different readings and reinforcing the kanji you have learnd.
Also, How long would you have to wait for new lessons? to appear?
These are also the SRS stage timings so you can get an idea of what it takes to reach each level:
Apprentice 1 → 4 hours → Apprentice 2
Apprentice 2 → 8 hours → Apprentice 3
Apprentice 3 → 1 day → Apprentice 4
Apprentice 4 → 2 days → Guru 1
Guru 1 → 1 week → Guru 2
Guru 2 → 2 weeks → Master
Master → 1 month → Enlightened
Enlightened → 4 months → BurnedFor Level 1 & 2 the SRS timings are accelerated for the Apprentice stage.
Apprentice 1 → 2 hours → Apprentice 2
Apprentice 2 → 4 hours → Apprentice 3
Apprentice 3 → 8 hours → Apprentice 4
Apprentice 4 → 1 day → Guru 1
Imedietly after the requierments are met. When you get to a new levels all the radicals, most of the kanji and some vocab will unlock. The rest of the vocab and kanji for a level will unlock as soon as you finish the radicals the kanji is made up from, or when you know the kanji needed for the vocab.
Okay, Thank you as well.
No problem. Welcome to the comunity <3
Farm more XP
Is there any way to XP farm?
Yeah you have to kill durtles.
You can max out your xp gain by burning their remains, but this is an intensive process, so most people who hit the level cap probably don’t bother.
How do you do that?
It was a joke on popular RPG mechanics and XP gain sorry. It’s not something you can really ‘do’ besides just doing your reviews. He asked how do you farm xp, which is a term for gaining lots of xp over a period of time in rpg games. The level cap was also a reference to that (WK’s level cap being 60, also one of the earlier level caps for World of Warcraft)
Durtles are part of the community lore I guess? As you level up, you inscribe kanji on turtle shells and offer them up to be burned to the carbigator. When you have burned an item, you have committed it to memory and the item is ‘burned’. This process takes about 5 months so my reply was a reference to that in joke.
You’ll learn more about it as you spend time in the forums
Just wait 6 months and you should be able to start burning little innocent, peaceful turtles.
If you raise a character to max level you can buy your alts the special anki-card set equipment that comes with an XP boost effect for speed-burning. It’s available in the Koichi shop for the low low price of 3500¥ (mobile offer only. do you guys not have phones??)
You can also spend $5 for 10 rolls on the Crabigatcha. You might even pull a super-rare durtle that auto-burns kanji for you.
Yeah but those don’t have the elite Ms. Chou skins yet cause they’re too new. You’re better off saving up for packs of Gatorcrates to open when the next wave of vocabulary items come into loot circulation
I got the Ms. Chou skin from the “mnemonic people”-DLC, which was on sale last christmas. It also comes with a Jourm unit, who can auto-farm radicals for you, which is completely OP.
Completely tangential, but it’s also the NEW levelling cap, now that they’ve squished levels. Sorry, the nerd in me had to mention
