Hi guys!!
I`m doing a scholarship in Japan, and I am planing to stay in it after graduation. However, I don’t have the the chance to learn or practice Japanese since my colleagues are all foreigners and the lectures are held in English. So, I joined WK. My Japanese level is around N4 and I have only 6 moths to reach N2. Sounds difficult, but I will try my best to learn Japanese every morning and evening. And these the problem that I face:
1- In WK the first levels where easy, but I noticed that I started to forget old vocabs when reaching level 8, and it tool me around 3 weeks to finish it. Is there any tips to maintain a high pace without forgetting?
2- WK is very useful in learning new Kanjis and vocabs, but I find it difficult to know how to utilize these vocabularies. Any advises/tips/material…
3- Finally, I need help in developing my grammar and listening.
I know that it is difficult to reach N2 in 6 months without having much hours to study everyday, but I will do my best!
Thank you!
Since you will be in Japan for that time, I recommend you try to find a club or course in something your interested in, so you can get that contact with natives. If you like soccer, join an adult soccer club. If you like calligraphy, join a calligraphy class.
As for WK, all you can do is just show up (a couple times) every day. Also pay good attention to SRS times in apprentice. Do lessons only when you think you can hit the 4, (8) and 12 hour review marks.
WK is more of a supplement for studying kanji meaning/reading. It would benefit you to use a tool (be it textbook, class or something else) that teaches the language in a more wholesome way.
That said, Jumping from N4 to N2 in 6 months sounds like a really hard goal. You should try to maximize your everyday immersion in any way possible. Consume only Japanese media (tv/radio/podcasts), talk to people as much as possible (maybe join a club where you can meet locals?) and whenever you are out, try to read all signs that you see around you and try to test your reading skills as much as possible.
